What if what you wanted done, was actually done by another person (in politics or elsewhere)? I think some would resist/oppose that.

It can be called irresponsibility. To an extreme it would result in always finding opposition/opponents, and thus misunderstanding, and thinking you’re being victimised.

It doesn’t save one from becoming naive, as he might then join whatever and whomever resists as well, thinking he is actually on his side, while he (the ‘whomever’) might just wish to control him.

So, in seeking to not be fooled, to not be naive, he might as well fool himself. And actually get a condition against his will, which is his own will, as well, if both wills persist in time.
