Ultimately, one needs to (or not) help himself. And those who wish to help can’t do it for him, they can only coax him, show him do it himself, otherwise from helpers they become perpetrators.
To assert that correcting others will do you any good is what societies suffer from. It just doesn’t happen. It only brings about authoritarianism, as one points the finger at the other, untill one or some clain the right to do it to everybody else for ‘good purposes’. You will only help yourself by effectively helping yourself. And the more you think you depend upon the changing of others to change something about yourself, the harder you will make it on yourself.
